Tigernuts Flour Puff Balls
This Tigernuts puff balls (also called puff puff) are made by partially substituting plain flour with tigernuts flour. It can be enjoyed as a snack or as breakfast with tigernuts milk, coffee, soda etc.
How to make Tigernuts puff balls
Prep time: 1hr
Cooking time: 15mins
Ingredients
21/2 cups plain flour
1/2 cup tigernuts flour
1 cup sugar
1 spoon of salt
4 spoons of yeast
500ml vegetable oil
21/2 cups of warm water
Procedure:
1. Mix the dry ingredients: the tigernuts flour, plain flour, sugar, salt, sugar and yeast
2. Pour in the warm water and mix well
3. Cover the mixture and keep in a warm place for at least 45mins. This is to allow it to rise.
4. Wash your hands well
5. Pour the oil into the frying pan or pot and heat for like 5mins
6. Gently scoop the flour mixture little by little into the oil. You will notice the flour begin to form into balls.
7. Scoop out the balls immediately they brown.
You can dust on a little sugar or baking sugar on the balls.
You can play around with the tigernuts flour substitution to suit your personal preference.
This recipe can make up to 50 balls and serve up to 7.
You can use this breakfast, midday snack or serve as a finger food/small chops at your events.
